The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition began at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi . The event is showcasing new technologies developed by Indian deep-tech startups ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit, which is being hosted by India. The two-day event, being held on September 11 and 12, has been organised by the Ministry of Education in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs. It is being held alongside the BRICS Business Forum.

A total of 37 Indian deep-tech startups and ventures are taking part in the exposition. They were selected from 120 startups that participated in the first Bharat Innovates event held in Nice, France, in June 2026.

The event follows India’s BRICS theme: “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” It aims to give Indian startups a chance to meet international businesses, investors, institutions and policymakers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Education Minister Pralhad Joshi and leaders of BRICS countries are expected to visit the exhibition. Senior government officials, CEOs, investors and business leaders from BRICS countries are also expected to attend.

The exposition is being held along with the BRICS Business Forum, giving startups an opportunity to meet business leaders and investors from BRICS countries.

According to the Ministry of Education, the event will help startups explore business partnerships, technology collaborations, investment opportunities and access to international markets.

The event also supports one of India’s key priorities under the BRICS Education Track: promoting research, innovation and startup ecosystems.

Bharat Innovates is a national programme of the Ministry of Education. It aims to connect India’s innovation ecosystem with international organisations and businesses.

The programme brings together startups, universities, research laboratories, research parks, companies, investors and governments.

For the startups taking part in the BRICS exposition, the event offers opportunities to meet CEOs and investors, take part in business meetings and increase their visibility in international markets.

The first Bharat Innovates 2026 event was held in Nice, France, from June 14 to 16 as part of the India-France Year of Innovation 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron jointly inaugurated the event.

The three-day event featured 120 Indian deep-tech startups and ventures working in 13 different areas. Organisations such as the IITs, IISc, BIRAC and iDEX also participated.

More than 2,000 people from 29 countries attended the Nice event. It resulted in more than 30 partnership agreements and MoUs.

Indian startups also received funding commitments worth around $254.5 million after about 1,350 business-to-business meetings.

The latest BRICS exposition is part of India’s wider work under the BRICS Education Track during its 2026 chairship.

The Ministry of Education held the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting on August 7 and the 3rd BRICS Senior Officials’ Meeting on Education on August 5 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The Education Ministers’ Meeting ended with the adoption of the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Declaration. The declaration identified five main areas for cooperation:

Improving early childhood education and basic reading, writing and mathematics skills.

Promoting skill development and technical and vocational education.

Strengthening research, innovation and startup ecosystems.

Making educational qualifications easier to recognise between countries.

Building leadership skills among academics and improving educational institutions.
