Jalandhar: DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology (DAVIET), Jalandhar, organised a Hawan and Ved Katha programme at Arya Samaj, Bikrampura, Jalandhar. The programme brought together the institution's leadership, faculty members and students to participate in Vedic rituals and reflect on the relevance of Vedic teachings in contemporary life. The programme was attended by Principal Inderjeet Talwar, Shri Ajay Goswami, General Secretary, DAV College Managing Committee (DAVCMC), and Principal Sharma. The proceedings were hosted by Dr Sandeep Vij, Director-cum-Principal, DAVIET, along with faculty members and students of the institute.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Sandeep Vij emphasised that education should extend beyond academic excellence to encompass moral values, spiritual awareness and character building. He observed that programmes such as the Hawan and Ved Katha provide students with an opportunity to connect with India's rich cultural and spiritual heritage and develop a holistic outlook towards life.

Principal Inderjeet Talwar highlighted the relevance of Vedic teachings in contemporary society and stressed the importance of discipline, ethical conduct and value-based education in shaping responsible individuals. He underscored the role of educational institutions in nurturing both intellectual and moral development.

Shri Ajay Goswami, General Secretary, DAVCMC, emphasised the importance of preserving and promoting India's ancient Vedic traditions. He noted that educational institutions have an important role in fostering cultural awareness and instilling moral values among the younger generation.

Among the faculty members present were Dr Anil Soni, Head, Department of Business Administration; Dr Gaurav Dhuria, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering; Dr Kanchan L. Singh, Head, Department of Applied Sciences; Dr Harpreet Bajaj, Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Dr Vinay Chopra, Head, Department of Computer Applications; Mr Ramandeep Singh Johal, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering; Ms Jasdeep Johal; and Mr Manpreet Singh Bedi, Dean, Student Affairs. Other prominent attendees included Dr Rajiv Vashist, Dr Navleen Singh Rekhi, Dr Rajni, Dr Neeru, Dr Payal Sharma, Dr Sunil Sachdewa, Dr S. K. Uppal, Mr Sumesh Mahajan, Mr Om Parkash and Mr Bhagat Singh.

The programme provided faculty members and students with an opportunity to participate in traditional Vedic rituals and gain a deeper appreciation of India's spiritual and philosophical heritage. It also reflected DAVIET's commitment to promoting holistic education through the integration of academic learning, cultural awareness and ethical values.
