Jalandhar : DAV Institute of Engineering & Technology (DAVIET), Jalandhar, through its creative club Arteso – Canvas of Imagination, successfully organised ‘Art Attack’, an inter-college and inter-school competition celebrating creativity, artistic expression and innovative thinking among young students.

The event witnessed participation from 10 colleges across Jalandhar. The institutions named in the event record include DAV University, GNDU Regional Campus, CT Group, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Doaba College, D.A.V. College, KanyaMaha Vidyalaya (KMV), HMV, Mehr Chand Polytechnic College and Trinity College. The competition featured four creative categories—Clay Modelling, Best Out of Waste, Painting and Reel Making—providing participants with an opportunity to demonstrate their artistic abilities and original ideas while interacting with students from diverse educational institutions.

Addressing the gathering, Director-cum-Principal Dr. Sandeep Vij appreciated the enthusiasm, creativity and innovative spirit displayed by the participating students and said that education must provide learners with opportunities to explore their imagination and develop their talents beyond the classroom. He observed that art is not merely a form of creative expression but also helps in nurturing originality, confidence, observation and the ability to think differently. He appreciated the participation of students from different schools and colleges, stating that such platforms promote healthy interaction, exchange of ideas and a spirit of collaboration among young learners. Dr.Vij emphasised that creativity and innovation are essential attributes for students to successfully navigate the challenges of a rapidly changing world. He further appreciated the efforts of Dr. Megha Munjal Sharma, Dr. Shivani Vij and the students of the Arteso Club – Canvas of Imagination for conceptualising and organising ‘Art Attack’ and for providing students with a meaningful platform to showcase their artistic abilities. Encouraging the participants, he urged them to never be afraid to experiment, reminding them that every great creation begins with the courage to imagine something that does not yet exist. He congratulated all the participants and encouraged them to continue nurturing their creative potential and pursuing excellence with confidence and enthusiasm.

The results of the competitions reflected the impressive creativity, originality and artistic talent of the participating students. In the Best Out of Waste category, which witnessed the participation of 17 teams, Palak and Ashvika of DAVIET secured the first position for their creation ‘Beauty in Forgotten’, followed by Aditya and Deepa of D.A.V. College, who bagged the second position for their floral creation, while Priya and Ansh of Guru Nanak Dev University secured the third position for their Swan model. In the Painting category, which saw the participation of 24 students, Gurasis Kaur of HMV College secured the first position, Ankit of B.Com., DAVIET, won the second position, and Kartar Kaur of Doaba College secured the third position. In the Reel Making competition, YatirajBhagotra of Guru Nanak Dev University emerged as the winner, while Jatin of DAVIET secured the second position and Aman Verma of DAVIET bagged the third position. In the Clay Modelling competition, which featured 14 teams, Khushi and Neha of HMV secured the first position for their ‘Sea Creature’ model, Dia and Jasleen of KMV won the second position for their ‘Books’ model, while Ridhima and Prachita of DAVIET secured the third position for their model depicting ‘Indian Culture’. The winners were appreciated for their originality, artistic expression, innovative approach and effective presentation of ideas across the different categories.

The competitions were judged by Manzil Singh (Zurff), artist, art educator and Director of Easelz’ Academy of Fine Art, who evaluated the Clay Modelling, Best Out of Waste and Painting competitions. Ms. Jasdeep Kaur Johal, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications, DAVIET, judged the Reel Making competition.

The event carried a total prize pool of Rs. 16,000, besides certificates and gifts for the participants. The cash prizes were sponsored by Kreezs Bake House, Nail Paradise, Truneed Grocery Store, NexTrip, JJ Tent House, Gaba Electronics and Trophy Gallery.

The successful organisation of ‘Art Attack’ reaffirmed DAVIET’s commitment to providing students with platforms that encourage creativity, innovation and holistic development, while strengthening meaningful engagement among educational institutions.
