India is building a strong digital economy based on innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology independence, according to the government.
Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, said that major government programmes like the India Semiconductor Mission and the IndiaAI Mission are creating new opportunities for research, manufacturing, and innovation.
He said that the government is committed to supporting businesses and innovators through better policies, easier business processes, and greater access to technology.
The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, organised the "STPI Tech Summit 2026: India’s Next Leap." The event brought together government officials, investors, entrepreneurs, and industry experts.
Prasada said that as India moves towards becoming a global leader in technology and innovation, organisations like STPI will play an important role in encouraging entrepreneurship, supporting innovation, strengthening emerging technologies, and helping develop world-class products and services.
S. Krishnan, Secretary of MeitY, said that while celebrating 35 years of STPI, it is important to look at future opportunities and use its strong experience to promote growth in new regions.
He added that one of STPI’s biggest strengths is its ability to connect entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, and industry leaders, creating a strong environment for innovation.
Krishnan said that STPI has built networks across India, from the North-East to major technology centres such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. These connections help bring guidance, expertise, and investment to developing regions.
He noted that by supporting startups, encouraging innovation, and attracting technology investments, STPI can help fulfil the aspirations of young people, promote entrepreneurship, and create quality jobs, especially in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Arvind Kumar, Director General of STPI, said that over the past 35 years, STPI has become an important part of India’s digital economy.
He said that with 73 centres across the country, support for more than 1,700 startups, and a major contribution to India’s IT exports, STPI has helped spread technology-driven growth beyond big cities and created opportunities in Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
