Jalandhar: Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jalandhar inaugurated Hindi Month (Hindi Maah) 2026 on 1 September in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The month-long celebration is being organized by the Rajbhasha Samiti, NIT Jalandhar, and will continue from 1 to 30 September 2026.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, Director, NIT Jalandhar and Chairman, Rajbhasha Karyanvayan Samiti, as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by Prof. A. K. Choudhary, Chairman, Hindi Cell; Dr. Sateesh Kumar Awasthi, Vice-Chairman; Dr. Dhanwantari Prakash Tripathi, Coordinator; and Dr. Anil Kumar Yadav, along with other faculty members, staff, and students of the Institute.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia highlighted the importance of language in communication, knowledge sharing and preserving cultural values. He emphasized the significance of promoting Hindi in official and academic communication while encouraging students and staff to develop greater engagement with the language.
Prof. A K Choudhary and Dr. Sateesh Kumar Awasthi also addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of preserving, promoting and enriching the mother tongue and Indian languages. As part of the inaugural programme, students actively participated and presented self-composed Hindi poems, showcasing their creativity and interest in Hindi literature. Their presentations added a meaningful literary touch to the ceremony. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, followed by the National Anthem.
Throughout the month, the Rajbhasha Samiti, NIT Jalandhar, will organize a series of activities for students, faculty and staff to encourage wider participation and promote the use of Hindi. The activities for students will include debate, quiz, storytelling and open mic, while various competitions such as Hindi translation, Hindi typing, debate, quiz, discussion and deliberation will be organized for faculty and staff. The month-long programme aims to provide an engaging platform for members of the Institute to participate in various linguistic and literary activities and to encourage the effective use of Hindi in official communication.
